Challenge
Connect-e-dil experienced a significant drop in user engagement after a two-year gap due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The challenge was to enhance the user engagement by working on the identified problems and introducing new features.
Results
The redesigned application has two new features. It also improves the user experience for the existing features and solves problems like difficulty in song navigation and limited search results.
The app saw a 46% increase in user sign-ups with a 22.75% increase in roses sent and 116.5% increase in songs dedicated.
These metrics indicate a strong reception and effective alignment with our engagement goals.

CRAFTING THE EXPERIENCE

Insights from User Research
Difficulty in Finding Songs
a) No Search option: Hard to find specific songs without any search option, often unsure if they are in the list.
b) Restricted Navigation: In the pagination system, users have to navigate through pages sequentially, with no option to skip multiple pages.
II. Limited Search Results
The search displays only 5 results at a time, making it hard to find the desired person.
III. Pairs Without Permission
The application allows pairing students without their consent, leading to dissatisfaction among those who were matched with individuals they would have preferred to avoid.
Based on the user research, by redesigning Connect-e-dil, I hope to:
Introduce new features that attract a wider audience
Prevent undesired pairs
Simplify the navigation between songs
Improve the search experience
Problem Statement
Connect-e-dil experienced a significant drop in user engagement after a two-year gap due to the COVID-19 pandemic. By working on the identified problems and introducing new features, the aim is to enhance user engagement in the current campus environment.
Brainstorming Sessions
I facilitated several brainstorming sessions with my friends to ideate innovative features for Connect-e-dil. We focused on creating engaging features that would appeal to students while adhering to campus guidelines.
Working on the userflow and wireframes
After brainstorming new feature ideas that could be introduced, I started working on those features while simultaneously addressing the existing issues. I refined the product through an iterative process, incorporating feedback from multiple review sessions with my mentors.
